The riding season:
Our basic season runs between December and May but we love riding so as long as the snow is ok.... we go for it.
Vertical drop:
The actual difference between the peak of the run and the bottom of the riding line, measured as a drop of altitude, decreasing from the initial 10.000 we are giving you the chance to use, by following our program.
Personal skills:
We are accessing a wide range of terrain that fits and satisfies pretty much any level of riding, whether you are a pro-rider, a freeride-addicted enthusiast or just a regular guy who is just starting to discover the joy of riding off-piste. We have a vast array of locations for you to choose from. Whatever your riding level is, a decent, over-average physical and mental condition is mandatory. Groups:
They say "a chain is only as strong as it weakest link." This is why, for every trip, we are trying to gain a group that is as unitary and homogenous as possible.
The key is to create groups of people that can ALL have fun TOGETHER and who can CONNECT to eachother. Our trips are rated following our skill-chart, according to the terrain. If you miss out on more than two trips you already miss the chance to be part of a group and after that you automatically begin to lose vertical drop points. It is easier for us to plan our trips with people who stick to the schedules, so this principle is very natural for our logistics. If you miss the train, it’s pretty obvious you miss the whole fun!
Planned trips:
There is one thing we love more than riding... riding powder! This translates into the effort of using all of our knowledge, experience, connections, local tips and weather forecasts to be able to find the best snow conditions in Romania. Since the weather is very unpredictable, our trips are usually planned and announced 3 to 7 days in advance to all our clients.
Housing:
Depending on snow conditions, terrain, location and other relevant aspects, we sometime plan multi-day trips that can last around 2-3 days. For all these multi-day trips AKline provides you with the best accomodation suggestions in a particular area. Even though, we leave it up to you to decide if you take our offer or if you try to find better housing by your own means, as long as you manage to stick to the trip’s schedule.
Meals:
For the basic day-trips we take, you will be responsible to carry your own food and drinks. On multi-day trips we offer you a team snack-lunch and a beverage during every riding day, option that is included in the package.
Locations:
There is one thing we love more than riding powder... riding the best terrain in the best powder available! Most of our signature AKline trips are in the Fagaras mountain range, but we are also sessioning the neighbouring mountains of Cindrel, Parang, Muntele Mic, Bucegi, Baiului, as well as a plenty of other places that we can discover together. You just have to ask!
Confirmation:
Once you register to or confirm your place on a planned AKline trip, NO cash refund or cancellation will be granted. That means that if you not attending a previously confirmed trip, from your 10.000 drop pass the amount of vertical drop achieved on that specific trip will be deducted.
Bad weather:
On one-day trips, if the guide is deciding to cancel the trip at any time because of bad weather, NO vertical drop will be deducted from your 10.000 drop pass. In case of multi-day trips, if bad weather occurs, or if the guide decides to abort the day’s mission or a part of the trip, an average amount of 500 meters per day will be deducted from your 10.000 drop pass.
Prices:
The Basic Package:
This one includes the "taxi" between the base-camp and the drop-in point, or you might say we pick you up at the hut and take you on top of the mountain. As much as the landscape allows us to, we use motor vehicles to reach our destinations: off-road cars, snowmobiles and a chopper. Bear in mind though, that some times getting to the best spots that hide the best lines also means a certain amount of hiking, so be prepared for any situation! The Basic Package does NOT include guiding, meals or housing for the multi-day trips. The price of the basic package is 500 Euro**.
The Guiding Package:
We are usually accessing a very wide range of terrain, so that we established our own difficulty ratings for both the terrain and the riders. An AKline certified guide is mandatory to bring you to all the trips that include lines with a higher ratings than your personal skill ratings, as valued by AKline. The Guiding Package assures you that you will be assisted by a trained guide on all the trips you will take with your 10.000 drops pass. The Guiding Package price is an 150 Euro** upgrade option on the Basic Package. You can also choose daily guiding for 20 Euro** per day per riding person.
The Safety Package:
Safety is our main concern here at AKline, so that our basic safety package includes transceiver, shovel and probe, items that are anyhow MANDATORY on any trip that you will take with your 10.000 drops pass. You can bring your own transceiver, shovel and probe or you can rent them from us in exchange of 200 Euro** per season.
The Weekend Package
If you are mainly riding on weekends, we strongly recommend you to use our special Weekend Package, so that any non-weekend trips will be optional for you and you will not be deducted any vertical drop from your 10.000 drops pass, if you are not attending them. Since logistics play an important role in our operations and weekends are sketchy for organisation due to obvious reasons, the Weekend Package is a 200 Euro** option to our base offer, for all those mighty and hard working weekend warriors out there.
